Congratulations! In the crowded disco that is the internet you have made your way from the overpriced bar, across the sticky carpet of lonely clientele, to the sweet spot directly under the glitter ball on the neon dance floor that is Dad Dancing The Movie!

Everyone has a memory that springs to mind when they hear the words ‘Dad Dancing’. Mine is a flashback of my sister’s wedding in the early eighties. As an 11 year old child I watched my Dad, sporting a suit slightly too flared for the decade, perform a step which was later referred to by my Mum as ‘stirring the pudding’. This involved him balancing on one leg, whist his airborne foot painted dynamic circles to the rhythm of Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine’s ‘Dr Beat’. That moment was my first ‘appreciation’ of Dad Dancing – a man, lost in music, trying to break out of the rhythm impaired body he inhabits, whilst somewhere close by a little piece of a small child dies inside with embarrassment.

Domonic White, the writer, director and producer of the movie ‘Dad Dancing’ has chosen to take the often experienced Dad Dance as inspiration to create a witty, reflective story embodying all that it is to be an aging man trying desperately to recapture his youth. Starring James Payton, previously on-screen in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and this year’s superhero extravaganza: Captain America, “Dad Dancing” will hopefully capture the public’s imagination and also raise money for the Movember Appeal, a charity which helps promote awareness and raise money for prostate cancer.
